A NEW £10m nursing home is due to open its doors in Newtownards later this year, creating 110 permanent jobs.
The Peninsula, described by operators, Bangor-based Dunluce Healthcare, as a state of the art development, will accommodate 80 elderly people within a ‘truly luxurious living experience’.
Residents will benefit from a range of nursing, residential, respite, and convalescent care, with the jobs including 16 nursing positions.
It will be located along the A20, opposite the town’s Tesco Extra complex.
Ryan Smith, chief executive of Dunluce Healthcare said residents and their families are at the heart of everything they do.
“Providing the highest standard of care to our residents is of paramount importance to us, meaning The Peninsula has been designed with both care and comfort in mind,” he said.
“Featuring 80 modern, stylish rooms as well as spacious communal areas and beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces, The Peninsula will offer residents a truly luxurious living experience, designed to hotel standards and unlike any other currently available in Northern Ireland,” he said.
The first residents are scheduled to move into the Peninsula at the end of 2023.
The new Peninsula marks the latest development in Dunluce Healthcare’s portfolio, which also operates residential and nursing care facilities at Oakmont Lodge in Bangor, and Hillcrest Care Home and Hillside Residential, both in Omagh.
Mr Smith continued: “The Peninsula not only represents the next step in our plans for continued growth and development, but also creates vital employment opportunities to those living in Newtownards and surrounding areas.
“We plan to recruit over 100 permanent staff members and were pleased to recently appoint Dr Kevin Moore to the position of Director of Nursing. Kevin brings over 40 years of experience to his position, along with a genuine commitment to delivering top quality care.’
He said the company offered employees careers ‘with real opportunity for development and training’.
“We provide financial support while staff learn, to help them be the best they can be, and actively encourage ongoing growth and progress,” he said.
“We look forward to the completion of The Peninsula and to welcoming both new residents and staff members to our new care home facility.”
