BANGOR Barracudas Water Polo Club is celebrating head coach Jane Reilly, who has been named Swim Ulster’s Volunteer of the Year for water polo.

The award recognises her outstanding dedication, leadership and impact on the sport across the region.

Jane was a co-founder of the Bangor Barracudas, creating an energetic and welcoming community club that offers water polo as a sport to local athletes of all ages.

Jane’s supportive coaching style and commitment to player development has helped the club grow since it was first established in 2012. Under her tutelage many local players, who otherwise wouldn’t have had access to the sport, have gone on to represent both Ulster and Ireland.

Beyond coaching, Jane has given countless volunteer hours to organising competitions, including acting as Tournament Director at the recent Division One Cup held in Bangor Aurora, mentoring new coaches, and encouraging young players to get involved in water polo.

Her infectious enthusiasm and unerring drive has helped establish the sport in the borough as one of the most exciting team sports for players who want to be part of a community and build their teamwork skills and water confidence.
