BANGOR’S netballers were narrowly beaten by Crumlin in a meeting at the top end of the Senior 1 table.
Both teams showed strong attacking intent from the off, with Crumlin’s fast-paced play and effective ball movement handing them an early advantage. Bangor’s defence, led by Miki Dunlop (GD) and Rebecca Mayne (GK), worked hard to disrupt Crumlin’s attacking flow, and they ended the first quarter on level terms at 15-15.
Bangor responded well in the second quarter, with a solid performance from their mid-court players, including Lynda Perkins (C), who provided excellent support in both attack and defence.
In the circle, Ali McClune (GS) and Rachel Gowdy (GA) showed great composure under pressure while facing stiff competition from Crumlin’s defensive players. The second quarter ended 24-27 to Crumlin.
In the third quarter, Bangor capitalised on some key turnovers to pull the score back. With some excellent interceptions from Yazmin Bleakley (WD) and quick transitions into attack with the help of Aimee Trainor (WA), the quarter ended with the sides locked together at 41-41.
The final quarter saw Bangor push hard with the help of captain Lucie Young and coach from the sideline. However, Crumlin’s defence held firm and their attackers remained clinical. It was a very contested match, and could have gone either way with just two goals the difference.

Bangor seconds met with Seven Towers for the second time this season on Sunday.
The match started off goal for goal with Chloe McAvera (C) and Ellie Green (WA) bringing the ball up nicely to the shooting circle, where Chloe Creighton (GA) and Anna Devany (GS) worked hard to move around the defenders to secure some great early goals.
The defence was strong, with Lynda Perkins (WD) and Linda Kerr (GD) influential in keeping possession for Bangor. The first quarter ended with only a two-goal difference, Seven Towers in the lead by 14-12.
In the second quarter Bangor made a change with Roslyn Neill coming into WA and Ellie Green dropping into WD. Bangor worked hard to secure their own goals and with the help of defensive interceptions, brought the score to 16-16.
Bangor continued to keep the scoreline close going into the third quarter, with the visitors leading 23-19.
The third quarter saw Bangor start to slow. Despite some great intercepts from Ellie Green (WD) and Chloe McAvera (C) and strong play up the court, Seven Towers pulled ahead to take a 40-28 lead.
In the last quarter Bangor took to the court with determination, however despite the great team effort everyone put in, Seven Towers ran out 55-33 winners.

AFTER suffering defeat to Newcastle in their last game, Bangor thirds were looking to bounce back when they took on Banbridge in Newtownards on Sunday.
The match got off to a difficult start with Bangor struggling to get into the game during the first quarter. Nevertheless, they started to find their rhythm with Lynne McAleer (C) and Amelie Reid (WA) bringing the ball up the court for Claire O’Connor (GS) and Mia Graham (GA) working hard in the circle to get some goals.
However Banbridge, with a strong defensive side, finished the first quarter 15-9 ahead.
In the second quarter, Bangor’s defence of Abby Bittles (GK), Charlie Clarke (GD), and Victoria Jamieson (WD) worked well with Amelie Reid (WA) and Lynne McAleer (C) linking play effectively.
Trailing 28-20, Bangor made some tactical changes in the third quarter with Amelie Reid moving into GA and Claire O’Connor going to WA. Bangor pushed hard throughout the court and managed to close the gap to just one goal, with Banbridge leading 31-32.
The fourth quarter saw Eve Doherty come on as WD and she helped bring a strong defensive side. Both teams fought tirelessly in this quarter, with Bangor making critical turnovers.
Bangor managed to draw level, but in the end it was the visitors who pinched the victory by a single score.

FOLLOWING their win over Dungannon just a few days earlier, Bangor’s U-19 side returned to action against Antrim at Strathearn School on Monday.
Bangor took time to find their flow early on, however attackers Amelie Reid (GA) and Eleana Martin (GS) worked together well alongside (WA) Eve Doherty and (C) Hollie Glasgow to help bring the ball up to the shooting circle. The first quarter ended with Bangor 9-12 behind.
The next quarter saw Bangor up their game with just one-goal difference between the teams at its conclusion (21-22).
Bangor remained strong in the third quarter with fresh faces in the court. Jasmyn McVeigh (WA) helped to slow the tempo which in turn led to more goals.
Going into the final quarter, Bangor showcased great determination throughout the court and especially in the centre third. The whole team worked together and encouraged each other until the final whistle, with the final result a defeat by the narrowest of margins.
