ON Thursday Bangor Netball Club’s first team met Larkside seconds for a shield fixture.
It was a tight and competitive start, with both sides going goal for goal.
GS Ali McClune and GA Rachael Gowdy settled well in the circle, while WA Aimee Trainor and C Yazmin Bleakley worked hard through midcourt to keep the attack flowing.
WD Miki Dunlop, GD Erin Young and GK Caoimhe Fenlon applied strong defensive pressure to keep it close.
In the second quarter the contest remained evenly matched, with Bangor battling for every turnover and conversion.
Bangor began to grow into the game after the break. Aimee Trainor moved to C and controlled the tempo, while Ellie Green came on at WA and made an immediate impact with sharp drives and accurate feeds. The defensive end continued to build momentum, turning over ball and converting it into goals.
In the final quarter, Sophie Laughlin stepped in at WD and made her presence felt, helping to close out the game. With confidence high across the court, Bangor pushed ahead to secure a well-earned victory.
