BANGOR Regatta, Northern Ireland’s top keelboat event, returns to Belfast Lough next week.
Hosted by Royal Ulster Yacht Club, the event will run between June 27 and 30 and will be opened by the new Major of Ards and North Down, Alistair Cathcart.
There are 35 yachts entered from across the British Isles, with yachts beginning to arrive from Scotland following an overnight race from the Clyde to Bangor.
The public will be able to catch sight of these magnificent boats in action from the Eisenhower Pier at Bangor Marina from 12:30 on Thursday and then from 10:30 on Friday and throughout the weekend.
The race Director for Bangor Regatta, Rory Flannigan said he is ‘incredibly excited’ to welcome everyone to Bangor and to Royal Ulster Yacht Club.
“I am particularly excited for the first race; to watch everyone start and to see all the different sized yachts compete against one another will be a sight to behold,” he said. “And I am truly indebted to the volunteers who will make this event such a success.”
