Bangor Sea Cadets are marking a major milestone this year as the unit celebrates its 60th anniversary, commemorating six decades of service, community engagement, and youth development.
To honour the occasion, a special anniversary dinner will be held on Saturday, 15th November 2025, at the Royal Ulster Yacht Club.
The event promises to be a memorable evening, bringing together current cadets, staff, alumni, and supporters to reflect on the unit’s proud history and its impact on generations of young people in the Bangor area.

Founded in 1965, Bangor Sea Cadets has played a vital role from its home at TS Decoy in Ward Park, in offering young people opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of community through nautical-themed training and activities. Over the years, the unit has seen hundreds of cadets pass through its ranks, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the Royal Navy, maritime industries, and beyond.
The 60th anniversary dinner is not only a celebration of the past but also a look to the future, as the unit continues its mission to inspire and support young people aged 10 to 18.
Former cadets and supporters are warmly invited to attend the event and reconnect with old shipmates.
