BANGOR LADIES 1 BALLYCLARE LADIES 1
BANGOR Ladies scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn a deserved point against Ballyclare last weekend. Having suffered defeat to the County Antrim side at the start of the season, a determined Bangor came into the match looking to prove their progress. The first quarter saw the home side dominate possession, with Brooke Stranaghan, Hannah Grant and Ella Riddel pressing high and controlling the game, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances to secure a goal. In the second quarter, Ballyclare took the lead with what could only be described as a fortunate goal. Despite this setback, Bangor’s defence of Louise Mckibbin, Molly Bret, Steph Mashal and Ellie Dines remained composed and continued to push forward in a bid to break down the visitors’ defence. The third and fourth quarters saw both teams creating attacking opportunities while the Bangor defence remained disciplined. Bangor fought hard to break through as Ballyclare stood firm, however, the young Seasiders refused to give up with relentless pressure as the clock ticked down. Their persistence finally paid off in the final seconds. Riddel powered her way into the attacking circle, drawing in defenders before laying the ball back to Dines, who unleashed a phenomenal reverse strike rattling against the backboard. The equaliser sent Bangor’s supporters into celebration and ensured the match ended level. It was a hard-fought performance from Bangor, who will take confidence from their fightback and build on their match play as they continue their season. Player of the match was awarded to Ellie Dines
