CLANN EIREANN 42
BANGOR were in Friday night action against Clann Eireann and saw their early-season unbeaten record come to end after a closely contested match.
A tense first quarter had Bangor just in front at 10-7, before the visitors started to find success in the shooting circle whilst also applying pressure in the defensive end. Rebecca Mayne (GD) and Louise McMullan (GK) linked brilliantly and were effective with Yazmin Bleakley (C) and Lucie Young (WD) to ensure Bangor were able to capitalise on any turnovers.
Clann Eireann however, began to pull away and the half-time score was 21-17 in favour of the travelling side. Bangor stepped up the intensity in the third quarter and saw a change when Young stepped into centre and with Aimee Trainor at WA, the pair worked tirelessly to supply strong feeds into Rachael Gowdy (GA) and Alison McClune (GS). Bangor took the third quarter but trailed by 31-28.
Clann Eireann came out firing for the last quarter with a run of goals at the start that would prove too much for Bangor to turn around. The firsts will take the positives as well as the work-ons for their next game against Mid Ulster. Player of the match was Lucie Young.

CLANN EIREANN 2 51
A STRONG finish from visitors Clann Eireann Seconds condemned Bangor Thirds to a narrow defeat at the Aurora on Friday.
The match started goal for goal, until Clann Eireann got a couple turnovers and had quick transitions down the court to take a six-goal lead into the second quarter.
Bangor found their rhythm in the second quarter. A strong defensive unit of Charlie Clarke, Felicity Morrow and Victoria Jamieson were able to get interceptions and turnovers, allowing Clair O’Connor and Lynne McAleer to feed Jennifer Graham and Mia Graham in attack.
This brought the deficit to just two at 24-26.
Fighting tooth and nail in the third quarter, Bangor hit the front with some excellent shooting from Jennifer Graham and Mia Graham. A few positional switches appeared to confuse the tough Clann Eireann side as Bangor went into the last period leading 40-38.
Tiredness began to set in throughout the last quarter and a great final run from the visitors secured them the win.
Player of the match was awarded to Felicity Morrow.
