BANGOR Netball Club rounded off the season on a high with four of their squads appearing in Northern Ireland finals and three earning trophy wins.
The club’s Under 19 squad were first to feature, when they took on Dromore in the U19 Cup Final at South Lakes Leisure Centre in Craigavon on April 5. The sides had already met twice before, taking a win apiece, so Bangor knew they had everything to play for in what was a first-ever final for Bangor in this age group and a proud moment for captain Essie Costello and her team.
Despite their best efforts, it was Dromore who emerged winners on the day by a scoreline of 40-69.
Team: Amelie Reid, Amy West Hurst, Chloe Whyte, Elena Martin, Essie Costello (captain), Eve Doherty, Hollie Glasgow, Jasmyn McVeigh-Bell, Olivia McMullan, Paige Girvan, Roksana Rusak.
The Under 16 B squad also made history in becoming the first Bangor team in their age group to reach a final. Phoenix were the opponents for the Plate decider held at Ards Blair Mayne Leisure Complex on April 12, where the Bangor team, led by captain Erin O’Reilly, were ahead on the scoreboard from start to finish and took the win with a final score of 23-13,

Bangor’s shooters were flawless in attack, assisted by captain Roslyn Neill, while the defence punished Dromore with numerous turnovers to broaden the gap in the scoreline. Dromore came back at Bangor in the third quarter but it wasn’t enough and Bangor came away with a 57-46 victory.
