A BANGOR woman who has lived through two world wars, the birth of television and more than a century of change has been honoured ahead of her 105th birthday.
May Trimble welcomed Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly and North Down MLA Stephen Dunne to her home as family and friends got ready for the milestone birthday she will reach in September.
Mr Dunne described Mrs Trimble as ‘a truly remarkable lady’ and said it had been a privilege to spend time with her and hear about her life experiences.
He spoke of the “wonderful stories” May had to tell and her ‘incredible perspective on life having witnessed so much change over the decades’.
Mr Dunne added that it was a ‘privilege to spend time with her and hear some of her extraordinary memories and experiences’.
“Reaching such an age is an extraordinary achievement and it was clear to see the love and admiration her family have for her,” he said.
“May remains full of warmth, humour and wisdom, and she is an inspiration to us all.”
The visit provided an opportunity to recognise Mrs Trimble’s long life and contribution to the local community while celebrating the milestone with her family.
Mr Dunne wished May ‘every blessing and a very happy 105th birthday’ when the celebrations take place later this year.
