A BANGOR woman has celebrated her milestone 100th birthday surrounded by her family and friends.

Elizabeth ‘Lily’ Tucker turned 100 on Monday, November 18, and celebrated her special birthday surrounded by her immediate family in the Welcome Centre at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Bangor.

Lily received a card from King Charles III to mark the occasion and said her secret to a long life is, ‘plenty of walking and good food’. Lily had another party on November 21 with The Sunshine Club, a group which is part of St Andrew’s church.

She married the late James Tucker on December 5, 1945, in Belfast before the couple moved to Bangor and went on to have four children, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

When asked what wisdom Lily would like to pass onto younger generations, she said: “Be kind and helpful to your family and friends.”
