BANGOR Netball Club’s first team tasted victory over neighbours Donaghadee last Tuesday night, running out 48-39 winners.
Aimee Trainor (WA) and Lynda Perkins (C) combined well in the first quarter to drive the ball to the circle, making nice feeds into shooters Rachael Gowdy (GA) and Ali McClune (GS) who kept the scoreline ticking over.Further impacts were made by Miki Dunlop (GK) and Lucie Young (WD) and, together with Erin Young (GD), the defensive trio turned over the ball and allowed Bangor to edge ahead.The third quarter saw Anna Devany (GS) step up and secure more goals for Bangor. Yazmin Bleakley (WD) continued the defensive work at the other end, keeping Donaghadee’s attack at bay. Bangor held their nerve in the final quarter to see out the win, with Aimee Trainor named player of the match.
