CASTLE Football Club claimed what they hope will be the first of a league and cup double this season with victory over Newtownards RBL in the final of the Sittlington Cup at Drome Park.

The DAWFL’s top two teams battled it out on Bank Holiday Monday and it was the team from Bangor who prevailed as they condemned their Premier Division rivals to a first defeat since September, in the process adding their name to the trophy for the first time.

Alan Morris’ 28th-minute goal was the difference between the two DAWFL heavyweights at the break, but RBL were level 10 minutes after the restart through Ryan Brown.

Midway through the second half, Castle edged themselves ahead again thanks to a Kian Harris free-kick and as RBL pressed forward in search of a late equaliser, Dylan Hay stroked home a third for Castle deep into added on time to seal the victory and spark jubilant scenes.
