HOLYWOOD midwife Taylor Jordan will make a welcome return to the catwalk when she competes in the final of this year’s prestigious Miss Great Britain Belfast pageant.

The 22 year-old is looking forward to taking part in the sold out live heat at Belfast’s Merchant Hotel, on Sunday, June 9, for the second year in a row.

The recently qualified midwife, who took second place in last year’s glamorous competition, is hoping to build on her past success and has her eyes on the prize of being crowned this year’s winner.

Taylor will be one of 14 finalists who are all vying for the coveted Miss Belfast crown hoping to secure a place at the Miss Great Britain National Final, being held in Leicester later in October this year.

This year’s Belfast heat is the second time the competition has come to Northern Ireland to find a local beauty queen, with only four women from Northern Ireland crowned Miss Great Britain in the competition’s 80 year history.

Taylor is looking to impress a distinguished line up of judges including pageant head judge Sally-Ann Fawcett, beauty and lifestyle influencer Abigail Parkinson, business owner Charlotte Clemie, former Miss Great Britain and Miss Belfast Eden McAllister, the reigning Miss Great Britain Ava Morgan and TikTok UK ambassador Alan Wallace.

Miss Great Britain, is the UK’s oldest and most prestigious pageant; established in 1945 the competition will mark its 80th anniversary this year, with a stylish celebration at the grand final.

The competition is billed as a celebration of beauty, achievement and empowerment, with an emphasis on each of the finalists charity endeavours.

Each finalist will have a one to one interview with the judges, as well as competing in the fashion, swimwear and evening rounds on the main stage during the live final.

Taylor spoke of her desire to enter the competition for a second time. “I came second last year and that was a really big achievement. I had got so close last year that I thought ‘I need to give this another go’.”

She said: “I loved it that much last year, there was every woman, every shape, every size, all of us girls are so different, we are all so unique. The ethos behind Miss Great Britain is empowerment, it is about building each other up.”

Balancing her new position as a midwife with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Taylor set about completing her application and securing her sponsor, S Moore Motors.

Seven months into her new midwifery role, Taylor said: “I am living my dream. I am working in the delivery suite, delivering all the beautiful bundles of joy, I love it.”

The busy wife is also dedicating much of her free time to her ongoing charity efforts. As a Cancer Research UK ambassador, Taylor hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity thanks to her fundraising feat – an abseil down the Europa Hotel in Belfast.

This young woman also completed a 25 mile walk in December and hopes to raise a total of £500 for the baby loss charity Sands with her ongoing charity efforts.
