Celebrity chef to headline Taste Autumn

TASTE Autumn returns in Ards and North Down next month with celebrity Irish chef Anna Haugh showcasing some of the borough’s first food and drink. 

The very best of local seafood, beef and harvest foods will be celebrated during the programme of culinary activity from September 5 to 28, including free and ticketed events.

The festival will include exclusive food experiences, chef demonstrations and a host of other epicurean delights including the popular highlights, the Demo and Dine on Friday, September 5 and the Tide and Turf Food Festival at Portavogie Harbour the next day.

Demo and Dine will feature celebrity chef Anna Haugh who will demonstrate the inclusion of  local produce into interesting menus, with the help of a curating team from South Eastern Regional College (SERC).

The Tide and Turf Food Festival takes place the following day, when thousands of people are expected to congregate at Portavogie Harbour to enjoy a range of activities and foodie attractions for all the family.

The peninsula festival takes place from 12noon until 5pm and is free to attend and will also feature cookery demonstrations, pedal boats, sand crafts and Punch and Judy shows for all the family, plus the chance to grab a deck chair and enjoy live music.

A free return bus service will run from Bangor, Donaghadee and Ballyhalbert to Dine at the Dock, while free buses will also be in operation to and from the Tide and Turf Food Festival.

The Taste Autumn programme includes other events such as Stargazing, on September 5; the Chilli Festival, on September 13 and 14; distillery experiences; an evening with Peter Corry, on September 19; Taste AND at Bangor Castle on September 27 and 28 and more.
