THE beauty of the North Down Coastal Path has been broadcast to Irish national television audiences in the latest series of the RTE’s Tracks and Trails.
Iconic coastal spots like Grey Point Fort were visited by former-BBC political editor Mark Devenport, who was joined by broadcaster, musician, and podcaster Doireann Ní Ghlacáin for a scenic 12 kilometre walk along the coast from Cultra, through Helen’s Bay and on to Bangor.
Mark has called County Down his home since he began working in Northern Ireland in 1986, and both he and Doireann were struck by the deep layers of history woven into the trail and landscape.
Mark said: “I was delighted to participate in Tracks and Trails and to re-discover the delights of the North Down Coastal Path between Holywood and Bangor. It’s a path I’ve walked many times in the past, so it was great to introduce Doireann to the area and share some of the culture and history of County Down.
Tracks and Trails continues on Fridays at 8pm on RTÉ One until May 30. Visit discovernorthernireland.com for inspiration on your next short break.
