Bangor Post Office along with the Newtownards branch has been slated to close along with 113 others across the UK

COUNCILLORS have called for senior officials from the Post Office to meet them about the proposed closure of the Bangor and Newtownards branches.

Ards and North Down Council’s Corporate Services Committee unanimously passed a motion last week calling for representatives of the company to come and talk to the council about the controversial proposal.

The Post Office has announced the closure of 115 crown branches, which are owned by the Post Office itself and are not operated as part of a franchise. There are four such crown Post Offices in Northern Ireland, including Bangor and Newtownards.
