The Under 12 squad

DONAGHADEE Rugby Club’s U11 and U12 squads enjoyed a sun-soaked weekend of rugby at the Athy tournament and camp out in County Kildare.

The U11s, missing several key players, battled bravely across four tough matches. Coaches Robbie and Sam Ingham, along with Graham Miller, received heartfelt thanks and the club hope they enjoy their well-earned free Sunday afternoons, now their coaching tenure is complete.

Meanwhile, the U12s continued their dominant form, winning all four matches against Boyne, Longford, Garryowen, and Westmanstown. Impressively, they conceded just one try all weekend. Coaches Paul Blewitt and Colin Wilkinson praised the squad’s skill and dedication, honed over eight years of development.

Thanks go to Athy RFC for hosting such a well-run event, which catered for over 1,500 young players. The club also extends gratitude to the 30 supportive parents who made the trip and cheered on from the sidelines.

It was a memorable weekend and clear proof that the future of Donaghadee rugby is in strong hands.
