AFTER devoting 21 years as principal of Donaghadee Primary School, Edwin Barr is to retire at the end of this academic year. Described as having worked tirelessly, serving both the school and local community in his endeavours to ensure that each pupil would reach their academic, social and emotional potential, Mr Barr is known to many generations in the school family and wider community. A spokesperson for the school said: “His humble, compassionate and inspirational leadership has left a legacy for years to come.” A number of events have marked his upcoming retirement including an afternoon tea party, celebratory dinner and most recently a special song composed and sung by all pupils in the school playground with gifts and tokens of appreciation presented. The governors, staff, pupils, parents and friends in the school community wish Mr Barr a long and happy retirement.
