IT is the first of 10 scheduled pre-season fixtures for Bangor this Tuesday night when Premiership champions Larne visit Clandeboye Park (7.45pm).
The friendly will see the Premier Intermediate League winners play host to the top flight title holders as Tiernan Lynch’s side look ahead to their Champions League qualifiers next month.
Lee Feeney’s men were back in training last weekend and the Bangor boss will use the next few weeks to get his squad up to speed ahead of their return to the second tier.
The Seasiders will relish the chance of testing themselves against Linfield, Glentoran and Rangers B; while Bangor will also prepare against a number of PIL and Amateur League teams.
“There’s a big season ahead of us and we need to make sure we prepare properly,” said Feeney.
“The boys were all looking forward to getting back together after a bit of a break since the end of last season. We have some really good fixtures in store and we will do things our way throughout.
“We will approach each game with a plan as we look to get different things out of each match,” he continued. “There will be some games where we can work on dominating possession while there will be others which will see us needing to work on shape and discipline.
“The games will be a good test for all of us, including for a number of the Reserve squad that will be doing pre-season with the first team,” Feeney explained.
“It will be a good opportunity for them and it will push their development on as well.
“Pre-season matches aren’t about results, it’s all about building and being ready to hit the ground running for our first match in the Championship at the start of August.”
