SEA Bangor will return to Bangor’s seafront next month with a weekend of maritime-themed activities, food and entertainment planned.
The event will take place on May 23 and 24 along Quay Street and Seacliff Road, where visitors can expect a festival atmosphere with food trucks, an outdoor bar operated by The Rabbit Rooms and stalls from local artisan producers.
Road closures and diversions will be in place to accommodate a new pedestrianised layout for the festival.
Organisers said the event will celebrate the area’s seafaring heritage through a range of attractions, including an urban beach, funfair rides, pedal boats, rowing competitions and model boat displays. Street theatre performers will also feature across both days, alongside a demonstration kitchen hosted by South Eastern Regional College chefs using local produce.
Water activities and a roller disco are also planned, with tickets to be released in advance.
A quiet hour will be introduced for the first time, running from 11am to noon on both days ahead of the main opening. It is aimed at people with disabilities, those who are neurodiverse and their carers, offering reduced noise and a calmer environment.
Capacity during this period will be limited and operate on a first come, first served basis.
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Gillian McCollum, welcomed plans for the festival weekend.
“I also commend the introduction of a quiet hour, which reflects our commitment to ensuring that large-scale events are inclusive and considerate of all who wish to attend.”
