FOR THE fifth successive year, Donaghadee Golf Club’s bowlers have emerged winners of the Inter Club Bowling League.

The League is played from September to March between four local golf clubs’ bowling teams, including Donaghadee, Bangor, Clandeboye and Carnalea.

Donaghadee’s league convenor and honorary life member, Maisie Nelson, said: “Donaghadee Golf Club indoor bowlers are thrilled to win the Inter Club Bowling League once again. We are a very competitive bowling team but alongside that, we really do enjoy great camaraderie with the members of the other three local golf clubs involved in the league.

“During the winter, house members and playing members can choose to play bowls as part of their membership. It’s a really good way to keep in contact with old friends and to make new friends.”

Team selector, Eleanor Alcock, added: “Some of our really keen members also play outdoor bowls at local clubs during the summer season, but we welcome regular bowlers and complete novices to come along to our club in September and enjoy the fun of social indoor bowling.”

Founded in 1967, Clandeboye were the first League winners which then also included Crawfordsburn Country Club until it closed in 2009.
