Copeland Distillery, located in Donaghadee, County Down, marks nine years in business, a journey that began as a final-year project at Ulster University and has since become an international success story.
From original small-batch gin to an expanding whiskey portfolio, Copeland has grown from a start-up concept to a spirit brand distributed across multiple international markets. Despite its global reach, the company is proud to maintain its base in Donaghadee, with local history and heritage central to its identity.
In November 2019, Copeland deepened its place in the community with the opening of its on‑site coffee shop, a place for locals, dog walkers and visiting tourists alike. From first-light harbour strolls to late afternoon distillery tours, and espresso-led catch ups to cocktail evenings in our bar, we’re proud to serve and give back to the community that has supported us since day one.
What began as a dream, backed by 300 initial crowdfunders who took a leap of faith on Gareth’s vision, has now grown into a globally recognised brand. A distillery defined by Donaghadee, its people and coastal character, every bottle is authentically handcrafted, with taste profiles that surprise and delight – truly a taste of Donaghadee, enjoyed by people across the island of Ireland, the US, Middle East, Far East and other international markets. As Copeland Distillery celebrates nine years of innovation, resilience and local heritage, we raise a glass to our crowdfunders, our team, our town and the thousands of customers who have joined us on this journey.
