DANSKE BANK SCHOOLS’ CUP

BANGOR GRAMMAR 12

RAINEY ENDOWED 56

TRIES from Cal Banyard and George Patterson weren’t enough as Bangor Grammar School made their exit from this season’s Schools’ Cup with defeat to Rainey Endowed.

The Grammar’s head of rugby, Rhys Botha, told the Spectator last week that just making it to the knockout stages was a measure of success for the Gransha road school given the youthful make-up of their squad.

And it was there that their journey in the competition ended for this year as their Magherafelt visitors ran in eight tries to comfortably advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face the winners of the replay between Dalriada and Ballymena Academy for a spot in the last four.
