SAILORS from all over the island of Ireland, including Galway, Killaloe, Greystones and Howth, were at Ballyholme Yacht Club at the weekend. The Simply Telcom RS Nationals 400 class winners were Bob Espey with Richard McCullough (BYC) while Jocelyn Hill and Jenny Lewis CAYC won in the 200 Fleet.
In the RS Northern retired Irish Sailing athlete Liam Glynn (BYC) demonstrated skills transfer from the Laser, winning in the Aero class and David Fletcher and Ryan Smith BYC won the RS 2000. It was great to see the Feva fleet withnine boats with Ross and Ellie Nolan RNIYC taking the win in youth and adult class and Emily and Annabel Ridout (both BYC) winning the youth class.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success. Further afield, BYC members were racing. Hannah Dadley-Young BYC was crowned the new ILCA 4 Irish National Champion in Tralee and nine BYC sailors competed in Antrim Topper Northerns. On Saturday, August 27 the BY Sea Open Swimming event starts at 12pm with a 5km, followed by 1500m and 750m. Participants can book your space on the Ballyholme website www.ballyholme.com
