Holywood-based author and former model Patience Bradley has released her first children’s book, a heartwarming tale inspired by her beloved dog and the memory of her late husband, Ivor.
Titled Princess Mary’s Journey to Find True Love, the story follows a small pedigree dog on an adventurous journey from Poland to Northern Ireland, driven by the belief that true love is waiting for her at the end.
Patience launched the book at a special event in Holywood Library, poignantly held on what would have been Ivor’s birthday. “I wrote this story with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face,” she said during the launch. “When Princess Mary came into my life, she gave me something to focus on. She brought joy back into my home.”
Told entirely from the perspective of Princess Mary, the book captures the highs and lows of her cross-country journey—highlighting the friendships she forms, the obstacles she overcomes, and her steadfast belief in love.
Edited by Niamh Cooper and published by Excalibur Press, the story gently explores themes of belonging, bravery, kindness, and resilience. Through the dog’s eyes, readers are taken on a touching adventure that is as uplifting as it is emotional.
“I wanted to write a story that had heart,” Patience explained. “Something that both children and adults could relate to. This little dog has taught me more about courage and loyalty than I ever thought possible.”
Princess Mary’s Journey to Find True Love is more than just a children’s book—it’s a deeply personal story drawn from real-life experiences. At the launch event, guests heard how the real Princess Mary’s journey through Europe mirrored many of the challenges and joys told in the story, culminating in a life-changing reunion.
