HOLYWOOD couple George and Barbara Lowry have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family.
The great-grandparents celebrated the milestone anniversary on September 7, over six decades after their first meeting.
Young George met Barbara Meneely at a Young Farmers’ Club dance in Ballykeel Orange Hall on August 6, 1960.
They were married in First Holywood Non-subscribing Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Leslie Bell.
The bridesmaids were Evelyn Meneely and Carol Lowry, while the best man duties were performed by James Lowry.
Youngsters Rosemary Dunne and John Dunne were in their finery for the day as flower girl and page boy.

The couple celebrated their reception in the Windsor Hotel in east Belfast and left for their honeymoon for a tour of Scotland.
The Lowrys are proud parents to four daughters, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The special occasion heralded the welcome arrival of a diamond anniversary card from King Charles and Queen Camilla, with the pair marking a celebration with ‘their nearest and dearest’ at the Masonic Hall in Newtowards.
The couple raised £1,200 in lieu of gifts for the MacDermott Unit at the Ulster Hospital.
