STRONG batting saw Holywood (236 for 4) extend their winning streak to 12 league games with a six-wicket victory over Ardent Blues (235 for 10) in Mallusk.
Despite an opening burst from Jacob McKeown (3 for 40) reducing Ardent Blues to 27 for 5, the home side succeeded in setting a good total, largely thanks to a century from to Sunson Stephenson (107).
However, Aman Tariq’s 6 for 55 brought a swift end to the innings and Holywood set about chasing the total.
When the visiting batters began their reply, a quick 42 from Thinus Gouws built the momentum that Elijah Harte (54) and Aman Tariq (74) sustained until the finish line was in sight.
James Shannon (23), Ben James (13 not out) and James Hemmings scored the remaining runs as Holywood extended their unbeaten run.
Aman Tariq’s figures of six wickets taken and 74 runs scored were rewarded with the Holywood player of the match award.
