A HOLYWOOD man celebrated his 104th birthday on Tuesday.
Lyn Graham, who has lived in the town for around 50 years, is now a resident at Glenmachan Tower House in Belfast where restrictions meant he could be joined by only his three children on Tuesday. However, a larger virtual event with all of his children and grandchildren is planned for Sunday.
Mr Graham spent his formative years living on the Malone Road in Belfast and he attended Methodist College. After leaving school he joined the Northern Bank and worked in branches in Aughnacloy, Ballynahinch and Saintfield before coming to Holywood in the early 1980s where he was manager.
Mr Graham ended his career with the bank at its headquarters in Donegall Square West, Belfast where he was assistant chief cashier.
In the 1960s he came to live in Holywood where he resided with his wife Marie, sons Brian and Peter and daughter Lynda. Mr Graham moved to Glenmachan Tower House in 2014.
He was ‘fond of acting’ and enjoyed performances as a member of the Holywood Players amateur drama group.
Mr Graham says the reason he has lived so long is ‘an unknown quantity’. “I just put it down to good luck,” he added.
