Five exceptionally talented young musicians from Northern Ireland have been awarded the Young Musicians’ Platform Award by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and BBC Northern Ireland. Pictured are four of the recipients, classical awardee, Andrew Douglas, traditional music awardee, Martha Guiney, jazz awardee, Katharine Timoney and classical awardee, William Curran. The biennial awards aim to showcase and support the development of young musicians from the region by providing funding awards of £5,000 each to enable the recipients to spend a sizeable amount of time learning from a master musician or mentor, either in Northern Ireland or abroad. The award also includes two BBC NI broadcast performances, including one with the Ulster Orchestra. Visit www.artscouncil-ni.org
