CHILDREN are to get the chance to try water polo at a special open event at Bangor Aurora this weekend.
Bangor Barracudas Water Polo Club is welcoming new players to a ‘Try Polo’ session on Sunday afternoon.
The local club, established in 2012, is recruiting boys and girls in the under nine and under 11 age categories to join the club and give water polo a go. The free open session will take place at Bangor Aurora on Sunday from 4-5pm.
All children are welcome to come along, although as water polo is played in deep water it is recommended all participants can swim 25 metres comfortably without swim aids.
Jane Reilly, head coach of Bangor Barracudas said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young swimmers to come and try water polo, develop their water skills, and be part of a fun and supportive environment.
“We are an inclusive family club with dedicated coaches committed to teaching our players how to work as a team in a fun and fast paced sport,” she added.
New players should be accompanied by parents and can register at the Bangor Barracudas reception desk at the Bangor Aurora from 3.30pm on Sunday. The event is sponsored by club sponsor Victoria Pinkerton Estate Agents.
Jane concluded: “We look forward to seeing new faces in the pool and introducing the next generation to water polo. It’s a brilliant sport that promotes teamwork, friendship and physical exercise away from screens and in the pool.”
