FUTURE lawyers and politicians got an insight into the workings of the Justice Department when Stormont Minister Naomi Long visited Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College.

Accompanied by North Down MLA, Connie Egan, the Alliance Party leader met with students from the Academy’s Law and Politics Society when pupils ‘asked great questions’ on issues of justice and the debate on the lowering of the age at which people are allowed to vote, from 18 to 16.

Mrs Long, the Stormont Justice Minister, said it was ‘encouraging’ to witness the interest of the young people in issues affecting society.

“The pupils asked some great questions focused on topics ranging from what I do in my role as Justice Minister, to the role of the Alliance Party in Northern Ireland politics,” she said. “I must say, it’s so encouraging to see so many pupils with such an interest in politics and justice issues,” she said.
