A BANGOR man has been recognised for his long-standing service to the Ballygrainey Boys’ Brigade after an early day motion was raised by Alex Easton MP in Parliament.
The motion, which was recently tabled at Westminster, acknowledged Bangor man Trevor Magowan’s incredible 64 years of dedication to First Ballygrainey Boys’ Brigade, with 54 of those years served as an officer.
Trevor, who joined the Ballygrainey Boys’ Brigade as a young boy and progressed through the ranks to Captain, was celebrated for his ‘steadfast commitment, leadership and service to the organisation, his church, and the wider Bangor community’, the motion read.
North Down MP Mr Easton said it was a ‘real honour’ to present Trevor Magowan with a copy of the early day motion which ‘highlights just how much of an impact he has made over six decades of service’.
“His selfless dedication, even through personal health challenges in recent years, is nothing short of inspirational,” he said.
“Trevor has been a role model to generations of young men and a key figure in shaping leaders not only in Ballygrainey, but across Northern Ireland through his involvement in officer training. This recognition is richly deserved.”
The presentation took place at Ballygrainey Presbyterian Church, where Mr Magowan continues to serve with the same passion that has defined his incredible journey with the Boys’ Brigade.
Mr Easton MP added: “The Boys’ Brigade is about developing young people with confidence and faith, and Trevor Magowan exemplifies everything it stands for. I am proud to bring his dedication to the attention of Parliament.”
