NORTH Down Boxing Club’s Garyn McAllister secured his first international victory last weekend at the National Stadium in Dublin, representing Team Ireland against a strong opponent from India.

The 90kg bout showcased McAllister’s composure, power and technical ability as he delivered an outstanding performance in front of a home crowd.

This contest serves as Garyn’s final competitive outing before travelling to Hungary as part of Team Ireland’s Under-23 squad, where he will compete in the upcoming European Championships.

Head coach Bogdan Tudoran said Garyn has been working relentlessly in the gym and the performance showed exactly what he’s capable of.

“He’s earned every bit of this opportunity with Team Ireland,” said Tudoran. “We’re incredibly proud of him here at North Down and we have every confidence that he’ll do himself, the club, and the country proud at the Europeans.”

The event in Dublin was the second leg of an Ireland v India international boxing series in which Ireland secured 26 wins to India’s 10.
