NORTH Down Athletics Club (NDAC) will host the NI and Ulster Championship Seaton Classic 10K for a second year on Saturday, September 26.
Sponsored by John Minnis Estate Agents, the event continues the proud legacy of the former Bangor 10K, bringing runners of all abilities together along one of Northern Ireland’s most scenic coastal routes.
The race has quickly established itself as a highlight of the local running calendar, attracting participants from across the region and beyond.
The 2026 edition promises another professionally delivered event, combining a fast, competitive course with a welcoming atmosphere for beginners and seasoned runners alike.
This year’s race will once again carry added prestige, acting as the NI and Ulster 10K Road Race Championship and drawing some of the top club runners in the province to compete for honours.
A total of 1,500 entries will be available, with a prize fund of £4,100, and demand is expected to be high following last year’s success, which saw Emily Haggard-Kearney smash the women’s course record.
Online entry, for Athletics NI registered members, is now open and general entries go on sale on July 3. With last year’s event selling out, runners are encouraged to sign up early to secure their place.
Launching the event, NDAC chair Jamie Stevenson said: “The Seaton Classic 10K has already become something special in a very short time.
“After a fantastic first year under the new name, we’re excited to welcome runners back in 2026 and continue building on the strong tradition established by the Bangor 10K.
“It’s a race for everyone, whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply enjoying the experience.”
Stevenson continued: “Hosting the NI and Ulster 10K Road Race Championship is a huge honour and a testament to the quality of the event.
“We are especially pleased to welcome the continued support from John Minnis Estate Agents, whose backing over the years has been invaluable.”
Sponsor John Minnis commented: “Supporting the Seaton Classic is about more than a race; it’s about celebrating the heart of our community.
“At John Minnis Estate Agents, we’re proud to continue our longstanding sponsorship of this fantastic event, bringing people together through Bangor and Groomsport, showcasing the energy, beauty and spirit that make this area such a special place to live.”
Cllr Craig Blaney, Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, added: “The Seaton Classic 10K is a fantastic addition to our borough’s events calendar, highlighting the beauty of our coastline while promoting fitness and community engagement.
“The Council is delighted to help facilitate this race and I look forward to seeing participants and spectators come together once again, for what promises to be another outstanding event.”
