YOUNG karting talent Isaac Foord (10), from Donaghadee, made his mark at the weekend with a strong third-place finish in Round Three of the Rotax Max Championship (RMC), held at Kiltorcan Raceway in Kilkenny.

Competing in the fiercely contested Junior Mini Max class against drivers aged 10–14 from across Ireland, Isaac battled through challenging race conditions to claim his first podium of the season, in only his third race at this level.

“The weekend was tricky because I’ve never raced at Kiltorcan before and some of the others know it like the back of their hand,” Isaac explained.

“I convinced my dad to go with wet tyres in the final and made four exciting overtakes, then held off a late challenge to secure third.”

The Rotax Max Championship is a prestigious all-Ireland series with races both sides of the border. Each season’s class winner earns a coveted place at the World Championships, taking place this year in Bahrain.

After three rounds, Isaac now sits third overall in the standings. The next round of the series takes place at Nutts Corner in two weeks’ time.
