‘Outstanding’ Bangor Business Awards finalists revealed

By Julie Waters

BANGOR Chamber of Commerce has announced the ‘outstanding’ finalists for the 2024 Bangor Business Awards.

The prestigious awards celebrate the vibrant business community in Bangor, recognising excellence in a wide range of sectors, from hospitality and tourism to sustainability and wellbeing.

This year’s awards are sponsored by title partner The Fusco Group and supporting sponsors Ards and North Down Borough Council, Clandeboye Lodge and That Prize Guy.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, October 24 at the Clandeboye Lodge.

This year, judges were particularly impressed by the calibre of entries across the 17 categories, noting an exceptional level of innovation, dedication, and passion from businesses both established and emerging.

The entries reflect Bangor’s dynamic and diverse business landscape, with a notable surge in new businesses contributing to the local economy.

The finalists were selected by a panel of independent judges including Brenda Buckley, Publisher and Director of Business Eye, Joelene Poole, Operations Manager of Retail NI, the Mayor of Ards and North Down Alistair Cathcart and Miriam Moertl, deputy Managing Director of Ardmore.

The judges collective expertise and insight ensured a rigorous and thoughtful selection process.

Frank Shivers, President of Bangor Chamber of Commerce, praised all the entrants.

“We were delighted to see a record number of entries this year from our business community,” he said. “The quality of entries has been outstanding.

“It’s reassuring to see our established businesses continuing to succeed and our newer businesses flourish, bringing fresh energy and innovation to Bangor. It’s a testament to the resilience and creativity of our local entrepreneurs and I would personally like to congratulate all of our finalists.”

Bangor Business Awards have welcomed category sponsors, EPOSNI, Retail NI, Lesley Bloomfield Shopping Centre and Retail Park, Tileworks, Subculture Media, Foot Clinic NI, Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors, Northern Ireland Food To Go Association, NDDO and Bangor Marine
