Ross finishes fifth in Latvia
CLANDEBOYE golfer Jessica Ross was left to rue a pair of closing double bogeys which meant she had to settle for fifth place at the European Ladies Mid-Amateur Championship in Latvia.
This was the Bangor woman’s third top-five finish in her last three starts, and after carding a three-under-par round of 69 on Friday she shot up the leaderboard to sit just one shot off the pace going into the final round at the Jurmala club near Riga.
But double bogeys on her 17th and 18th holes on Saturday would see Ross sign for a four-over 76 and eventually finish one shot behind Irish colleague Aideen Walsh in fifth, four back of French winner Alexandra Farret.
