The NI and Ulster Championship Seaton Classic 10K has announced North Down & Ards
Women’s Aid as its official charity partner for this year’s race, taking place on Saturday, September 26.
Women’s Aid provides vital support to women, children and young people affected by domestic and sexual abuse across the North Down and Ards area.
Importantly, every pound raised locally stays within the local community, helping those who need it most.
This year, the charity’s fundraising goal is to help establish a second emergency accommodation centre in the area.
Currently, Women’s Aid operates just one refuge, which is consistently at full capacity, highlighting the scale of demand for its services.
The charity is also appealing for more local volunteers to support its work, and anyone interested in making a difference is encouraged to speak with the team at the race.
Women’s Aid will be at the Seaton Classic 10K pack collection and will also be fundraising at the start and finish areas on race day, giving participants and spectators the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work and show their support.
Host club North Down AC’s David Seaton, the man after whom the race is named, welcomed the partnership.
“We’re delighted to have North Down & Ards Women’s Aid as our charity partner for this year’s race,” he said.
“They provide an essential service for people in our community, and we’re proud that the race can help raise awareness of their important work, while supporting their ambition to create much-needed additional emergency accommodation.
“I hope our runners and supporters will get behind the charity and help
make a real difference.”
North Down & Ards Women’s Aid CEO Emalyn Turkington added: “We are incredibly grateful to be chosen as the Seaton Classic 10K’s charity partner.
“Every donation made through this event will stay within North Down and Ards, helping us support local women, children and young people affected by domestic and sexual abuse.
