Seven Bangor Barracuda Water Polo Club players represented Ulster at age-level inter provincial tournaments. Four girls and three boys were selected in their respective age groups with all players.
The four girls, including twins Mia and Faye Hehir and Chloe Stewart played for Ulster u15 girls whilst Nina Lyness, a goalkeeper who has already represented Ireland at age–grade level, played for Ulster u17’s girls team.
Ollie Linden and Felix English were both selected to play for Ulster u17’s boys team whilst goalkeeper Daniel Monaghan played for the Ulster u15’s boys team who returned as gold medal winners from the inter-provincial tournament.
Jane Reilly, Head Coach of Bangor Barracudas and an age-grade National Water Polo Coach said: “We are a relatively young club in water polo terms, so to have seven players selected to play for Ulster is a real achievement – and testament to the coaches we have at our club. The sport requires a high degree of fitness, teamwork and tactical awareness which all of our players work hard on. We are very proud Bangor Barracudas continue to produce players who achieve representative honours.”
Bangor Barracudas was established in 2012 to bring inclusive water polo to the Ards and North Down area. The sport is renowned for being great fun, improving water confidence, building strength and stamina and encouraging teamwork.
