There was a warm welcome — and plenty of friendly competition — at Donaghadee Golf Club last Thursday evening as the cast and crew of the BBC drama Hope Street swapped scripts for scorecards in a special golf event with members and visitors.
The 13-hole Stableford competition, complete with a shotgun start, brought together 80 golfers of all ages and skill levels for an evening of sport, laughter, and community spirit.
Now in its second year, the event has become a popular fixture on the club’s calendar, with prizes awarded to the top male and female golfers, alongside a selection of fun spot prizes. But the real reward was the shared experience between fans and familiar faces from the screen.
Club Captain Robert Henderson praised the event’s spirit:
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Hope Street cast and crew for their continued support. This competition is all about bringing people together for a great game and a bit of good craic. When the actors get involved, you can always expect a few surprises!”
Lady Captain Carolyn Minnis added:
“It’s not every day you get to share the fairway with TV stars. Whether you’re into golf, television, or just enjoy a great evening out, this event is the perfect mix of sport, entertainment, and community.”
Speaking on behalf of production company Long Story TV, Leon Coole expressed the team’s enthusiasm for being back in town:
“We’re delighted to be filming the fifth series of Hope Street here in Donaghadee. The local community has always welcomed us with open arms, and we’re thrilled to be part of this fantastic event again.”
The fun didn’t stop at the final hole — celebrations continued in the clubhouse with a delicious meal, plenty of laughs, and a well-earned toast to a memorable evening on and off the course.
