SCHOOLS’ CUP QUARTER FINAL: SULLIVAN UPPER 10 BALLYMENA ACADEMY 22

SULLIVAN Upper saw their Schools’ Cup campaign ended by Ballymena Academy for the second time in three years, as the Holywod school fell to defeat in Saturday’s quarter-final.

Two years ago it was at Ravenhill, in the semi-finals, that Ballymena prevailed in this particular duel, and in the latest instalment the 2024 beaten finalists were victorious once again to book a semi-final showdown in March against RBAI.

Louis McKeown scored Sullivan’s try, while Henry Calvert added five points from the tee, converting the try and slotting a penalty. James McMillan was pivotal for Ballymena, contributing 12 points with a try, two conversions and a penalty, while Jacob Casson and Billy Wylie also crossed for the Braid school in north Down.

On the other side of the semi-final draw, there is a heavyweight clash between Belfast rivals Methodist College and Campbell College, who got past Rainey Endowed and Regent House respectively in the last eight.
