Ravara Court in Bangor was filled with joy and celebration as one of its original tenants, Betty Dowds, marked her 100th birthday in grand fashion.
The supported living facility, operated by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, hosted a heartwarming tea party for Betty, who is also a former Trust employee. The event brought together staff, fellow residents, and friends to honour her incredible milestone.
The party featured singing, dancing, a specially designed cake, and a cherished birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla — all befitting the vibrant centenarian.
When asked about the secret to her longevity, Betty shared her wisdom:
“Don’t hold spite. If you have something to say, just say it. Don’t fall out with anybody — it can eat you up inside. Just live your life, do what you want to do, and enjoy every moment.”
Ravara Court manager Ashley Collins described the occasion as a privilege:
“It is a privilege and an honour to have Betty here at Ravara Court. She was one of the first tenants to move in. She is a glamorous, amazing lady and truly is the life and soul of Ravara Court.”
