A BANGOR sixth-former has landed his first national wrestling title with his younger brother also among the medals at the recent Irish Open Wrestling Championships in Dublin.
Seventeen year-old Jamesy Morrison saw his years of hard work pay off when he secured a maiden gold medal in the 80kg division as sibling Joel, 15, took silver at 61kg at the event on October 19.
The brothers were competing as part of a 17-strong team from Carrickfergus based Barbarians Wrestling Club which travelled to the National Indoor Sports Arena in Blanchardstown.
Their coach, Stuart Baker, said the Championships were a huge success with the team showing great attitude.
Jamesy and Joel will now turn their attentions to the International Helsinki Open tournament, where they’re set to represent Northern Ireland between December 14 and 16.
