Bangor boss pens contract extension
BANGOR manager Lee Feeney has agreed a new contract with the club that will keep him at Clandeboye Park until the summer of 2028.
Feeney, who first took the reins at Bangor in June 2020, has overseen a remarkable period of progress for the Seasiders. Under his leadership, the club have achieved two promotions which culminated in a return to Northern Ireland’s top flight for the first time since 2009.
The Kilkeel native said he was delighted to be continuing his journey with the north Down club and believes Bangor can compete with ‘every team’ in the Premiership this term.
“The support from the board, players, and supporters has been incredible and I’m excited about what we can achieve together in the Premiership,” he said.
“As a management team, we are driven to keep progressing and improving and we are never complacent.
“However, we approach the season with realism. We recognise that this will be a different type of campaign for the club, one which will provide significant challenges every week and where we will often be seen as the underdog.”
Feeney went on: “Since winning the Championship title, my management team and I have been focused on preparing for this season.
“I have full confidence in my players and staff and I’m certain we have what it takes to compete against every team in the league.”
Club chairman Graham Bailie highlighted the former Rangers player’s man management skills and described the new deal for Feeney as a ‘key moment’ for the club’.
“I’m delighted that Lee has signed a new three-year deal at Bangor,” said Bailie.
“This is a key moment for the club as we enter the Premiership and one I know our supporters will be excited about.
“Lee continues to be a great fit for the direction we are heading in,” he added.
He is a fantastic man-manager who brings out the best in the players and his passion, professionalism and belief in what we are building at Bangor are exactly what we need to take the next step.”
Bailie continued: “What stands out most is Lee’s commitment, not just to the team, but to the whole Bangor FC community. He wants to bring lasting success to the club and that ambition is something we all share.
“As we prepare for the start of the season in the Premiership, there is a real buzz around the club and the city. With Lee at the helm, we’ve got every reason to look forward to an exciting season ahead.”
