NAFL PREMIER DIVISION

Dromara Village 1

Abbey Villa 1

ABBEY Villa and Dromara Village played out a forgettable encounter at Bellsbridge on Saturday.

The late fashion of their defeat to Comber last time out accompanied by a couple of injury-enforced changes saw Villa struggle to bring any real intensity to their game, with the visitors probably edging possession in the first half without ever really looking like scoring. There was little to choose between the teams for long periods, but it was Villa who were a goal to the good at half-time. After Chris Murray had been tripped inside the box, the forward made no mistake from the penalty spot.

The second half continued in the same disjointed fashion as the first half, with neither team seemingly able to gain a level of control. Midway through the half, Dromara grabbed an equaliser through Nigel Prentice after a couple of bad errors in the Villa defence.

The goal did seem to shake Villa into a response, as from that point they managed to finally apply some concerted pressure on the Dromara defence.

However, it turned out to be just too little, too late, as the game ultimately petered out into a disappointing draw.
