THREE club runners travelled to Malaga recently to take on the marathon and half marathon.
Mary Slocum was our only member taking on the marathon and she finished in a very impressive time of three hours and nine minutes to win the F60 age category.
This was Mary’s 10th marathon this year and her fifth sub three hour 10 minute performance.
She won
Taking on the half marathon in Malaga were Rhiannon Carver and Andrew McCorkell. Both ran the race together taking in the beautiful views and crossed the line in an impressive 1:50.
A little closer to home, Ward Park Runners were out in force to take on the Run Forest Run series at Tollymore Forest Park.
First to cross in line in an incredible time was Tim Taylor in 40:21, followed by Peter Allen 51:23, Bradley Lewis 56:15, Mark Greer 59:32, Ian McAleer 59:56. Andy Le Gallez 1:00:48.
The first female to cross the line was Claire Fleming in 1:00:53. A special mention to Stephen Hawe, competing in his first 10km race, crossing the line in 1:08:21.
Anne McConkey crossed the line in 1:17:31, after only completing C25k this year.
Four runners took on the 5km race.
The first member to cross the line was Charles Budd making an impressive return from injury. He finished in 28:38 winning the M70 age category.
Elizabeth Maxwell was next across the line in 33:05 also winning the F70 age category.
Alan Craig crossed the line in 35:41 followed closely by David Yell in 36:20.
