IT was a day to remember at Ballyholme Yacht Club as the RYA Northern Ireland Women on Water Festival made a triumphant return, proudly supported by RBCA.

The event welcomed 42 women to the water — many of them trying new water sports for the very first time — in a celebration of adventure, confidence, and community.

Across six dynamic sessions, participants had the chance to experience keelboating, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), windsurfing, dinghy sailing, powerboating and a hands-on rigging workshop.

A warm welcome briefing, complete with fresh refreshments, set the tone for a day full of energy and discovery.

Despite challenging weather, the experienced water sports team delivered safe and engaging sessions throughout. Whether catching the wind on a dinghy, steering a keelboat, or feeling the thrill of a powerboat ride, each activity was met with enthusiasm and smiles.

The festival wasn’t just about getting on the water. A dedicated shore team ensured smooth logistics, delicious food and an upbeat atmosphere throughout. The evening was capped off with a barbecue feast for over 80 people, followed by live music.

Behind the scenes, an incredible team of volunteers kept everything running seamlessly, from coordinating activities to capturing the magic on camera. Their hard work and commitment made the event possible and unforgettable for all involved.

The Women on Water Festival continues to grow as a flagship event, empowering women through sailing and water sports while building confidence, friendships and a shared sense of achievement.
